The Newly Appointed Partners

Ashurst appointed 25 new partners which resulted in an increase of 79% in the number of partners promoted in 2021 (14 partners were appointed last year). The appointment took place across the six offices and the thirteen different practice areas of the firm. Almost half of the new partners are in the Asia-Pacific region, and the rest are in Europe. Among them, twelve of the new partners are in Australia, ten in Europe, two in Milan and one in Madrid. Furthermore, 48% of the new partners worldwide are women.

The Global Chair of Ashurst, Karen Davies stated,

Partners from London, UK

Ten newly appointed partners in the firm are from London, United Kingdom. The new UK based partners are:

    • Francesca Downes, Jacob Gold, Dallan Pitman and Molly Woods as partners in the Corporate Transactions practice of the firm;
    • Richard Bulmore in the Restructuring and Special Situations Group of the firms;
    • Briony Holcombe and Matthew Pentecost in the firm’s Global Loans practice;
    • Samuel Outtridge in the Transport & Infrastructure practice;
    • Ciaran Vinaccia in the Global Markets practice, and;
    • Tim West in the Dispute Resolution practice of the firm.

About some of the UK based Partners:

Tim West is one of them in the firm’s dispute resolution practice. He is a dual-qualified lawyer of England and Wales. He has vital experience in commercial litigation in the banking, automotive, energy, and pharmaceuticals. Moreover, he also has experience in patent and competition follow-on damages claims.

Jacob Gold, another newly appointed partner in the firm’s corporate practice. He mainly deals with the firm’s mergers and acquisitions, and company law and governance, focusing on advising financial institutions and, private equity and growth and venture capitalism clients. Kinnevik AB 2016/17 nominated him as their UK legal counsel where he advised on their private investments in digital consumer businesses in the UK,  continental Europe, and the United States.

Francesca Downes is also a new partner in the firm’s corporate transactions practice, with significant experience in domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, and has particular experience in private equity, corporate real estate transactions, and joint ventures.

Most of the partners in London are in the corporate transaction practice of Ashurst. The roles of the new partners were commenced on 1st May of 2022, the year of the firm’s bicentenary.
